Bill Gates said it long ago - Content is King

“Content is King,” said Bill Gates. Do you agree?

Listen as audio

Content is where I expect much of the real money will be made on the Internet, just as it was in broadcasting.

Bill Gates. Microsoft. 1996.

Decades later, it still rings like an alarm bell in my ears– the loud fact that content is indeed the king.

Then, what is the irony?

  1. The profession of content writing is not kingly yet. Only a few enlightened business leaders reward the Content Writers well.
  2. Ruthless plagiarists that steal content from other sources seem to multiply by the day. Doesn’t it defeat the sponsors and make the web redundant.
  3. Look at the herd that follows the basic clerical procedures of the so-called “SEO Optimization”. Arent they not ruining the concept of authentic content? They stand next to the ones stated in #2 above.
  4. Let me end this list with a dynamic irony– Most of the content written today has a message that is known before it is read. It can be argued to be a good thing, though.

Writing authentic content that communicates the significance of a product or a service is a serious business. Companies that understand the quote “What got you here, is not what’s going to get you where you want to go.” know that investing in kinglike content is an inevitable way forward.
